Youth Projects
The Jeune Voix Theatre Group
The Jeune Voix Theatre Group (The Young Voice Theatre group) is an innovative youth project combining the arts with social activism. Using exercises from theatre of the oppressed, image theatre, writing prompts, character development, voice and movement warm-ups and mask making students are given the tools necessary to create an original performance piece reflective of their concerns and insights on issues impacting their community.
This 3- month course is open to young people between the ages of 13 and 19 who are interested and committed to deepening their understanding of social issues and exploring possible solutions through the lens of theatre. The weekly sessions are structured to encourage participants to expand beyond their self-limiting definitions and discover potentials both within themselves and within their own community. This project culminates in a final performance for the public. Please contact Julia Smith, DELTA Coordinator at SAFV, for more information. jsmith@safv.org or (907)747-3370. Next courseTBD.
